The Twelve Days of Christmas is a very old song that celebrates the time between Christmas and Epiphany (also known as Twelfth Night). Each day is commemorated with a gift but the song is far more than a nonsense song as I always thought. It has some very deep meaning for the Christian.

Each stanza starts with "On the first (or second or third) day of Christmas, my true love gave to me." The True Love is God The Father, and me is the Christian, the recipient of all of God's blessings.
